Local Wins Compass Pointe 'Swing Into Spring' Hole-In-One Golf Challenge
Robert Skrzycki Triumphs Over 200+ Competing for Free Homesite Prize
LELAND, N.C., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- In an exciting final finish, Robert "Bob" Skrzycki of Porters Neck won this weekend's Hole-in-One Challenge at Compass Pointe in Leland, North Carolina.
A putt-off was held to determine a winner of the competition after no hole-in-one was achieved during the two-day event. Skrzycki sunk the winning putt during the second round of the putt-off. It all came down to the final challenger. With the opportunity to tie, his putt stopped just shy of the hole, queuing Skrzycki up for victory.
Seven men earned the right to participate in the putt-off, which took place at 5:30pm on Sunday, April 19th. Five participants were local residents; one was from Charlotte and one from Maine.
For his efforts, Skrzycki walked away with a free homesite from Compass Pointe. He and his wife, Joan, expressed enormous excitement over the win.
"You hear about these things and read about them in the paper and it's always something that happens to somebody else over there," said Skrzycki. "When it happens to you, you just say 'I'll be dog gone.'"
The two-day event drew over 200 participants for the Hole-in-One Challenge competition and far larger numbers for the accompanying festivities. Visitors enjoyed barbeque, entertainment and property tours over the course of the two-day event.
"We saw a huge amount of interest in Compass Pointe," said D Logan, one of the developers. "People who took the opportunity to come out for the event were instantly sold on the beauty of the land and what Compass Pointe had to offer."
