Ferrari Challenge Season Continues at Road Atlanta
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The North American Ferrari Challenge Series 2009 will continue to its second race of the season on April 17-19 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, GA.
Now in its 16th racing season in the U.S., the Ferrari Challenge Series (utilizing race-prepared F430 Challenge vehicles) offers Ferrari owners the opportunity to compete against other Ferrari owners in a highly competitive racing series at world-class venues throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Adding to the excitement this year will be demonstration FXX and F1 lapping sessions held by factory-supported Ferrari Corse Clienti program. This will be the first time that either FXX or a modern era Ferrari F1 car circuits the twists and curves of this famed Georgia asphalt.
The series has come to Road Atlanta for the second year running with a strong race for the championship underway. Homestead double winner Scott Tucker of Boardwalk Ferrari (Dallas, TX) looks to extend his championship lead, while Mark McKenzie of Ferrari of Houston will try to close Tucker's 70 point lead. 2007 Ferrari Challenge champ, Mike Zoi of The Collection (Coral Gables, FL) brings a renewed confidence into Road Atlanta and looks to be a strong contender for race wins. With 400 points at stake over the weekend, it is possible that a new points leader will emerge at its conclusion.
Mark McKenzie's Ferrari of Houston teammate Richard Fant, sitting fourth in the standings, demonstrated strong pace at Road Atlanta in 2008 and will look to add to his Homestead racecraft and consistency to the mix in an effort to upend the podium order. Also looking to make a strong showing is Ferrari of Beverly Hills Zak Brown who also ran strongly at Road Atlanta in 2008.
The season will then continue to Infineon Raceway in California [May 1-3], Road America in Wisconsin [June 26-28], Mt. Tremblant in Canada [July 24-26] and Motorsports Park in New Jersey [Sept. 18-20].
The Ferrari Challenge is one of the numerous "exclusive" experiences that Ferrari offers its customers -- and whether owners are actually racing in the series, dining in the luxurious VIP hospitality tents, participating in weekend driving clinics or socializing with those that share their enthusiasm for Ferrari, the weekend provides a unique atmosphere and incomparable experience.
General public can enjoy the races, peruse the paddock areas, and enjoy the overall Ferrari-festival type of atmosphere.
