C.F.A. ART OPPORTUNITIES NEWSLETTER (english)

PROGRAM OF RESIDENCE - ITALY
Deadline: May 23rd, 2009.
A group of Italian artists is promoting an international
program of exhibition, open to italian and foreign artists.
The selected artist will be hosted in a small housing unit
or Bivouac , built in an “interstitial” area of the
city, that will be the artist’s living and working
environment. The Bivouac is assembled from left over
materials and is equipped with a survival kit made up of a
solar panel, heating and cooking kit, and portable toilet.
This should not be seen as an experiment in extreme
survival, but rather as the desire to relate to the city,
our “natural” habitat, in search of the essential. The
competition is open to all artists currently working in the
specific sector of visual arts, without restrictions of
approach or medium.
The residence will be hosted by the city of Torino between
September 21 and November 7 2009, for a period of 3 to 6
weeks according to the needs of the selected artist.
During the residence period, the organization will organize
meetings with critics, researchers and others involved in
contemporary art, giving the artist in residence the chance
to present his or her works as well as the project(s)
developed in Turin. There will be one or more days in which
the artist opens the studio to the general public who can
meet and talk with him. The association allocates a maximum
of 7.500 euros, thus divided:
Attendance Fee:
2.000 euros
Expenses: - 2.000 euros (maximum) – Production expenses
for a project or projects to be developed during the
residency.
- 250 euros/week – living expenses (maximum 1.500 euros
total).
- 2.000 euros (maximum) – travel expenses.

This gallery in Edinburgh, is inviting proposals for our
ongoing gallery project “Suitcase Series” that plays
with notions of distance, space, location, interpretation
and interaction.
The work consists of instructions sent to us for altering or
otherwise using the gallery space, which we will undertake,
set up and interpret according to the parameters set by you.
We will produce documentation of this process that will then
be sent back to you. We will also cover all publicity for
your exhibition.
While we are welcoming all kinds of proposals in all media,
due to the location of our gallery in a high traffic area of
the city we are particularly suited for work that involves
