Boston Celtics Captain Paul Pierce Partners with Switch2Health to Inspire Youth to Lead Healthier Lifestyles through Innovative Rewards-based Fitness System
Program Incentivizes Youth to Perform 60 Minutes of Daily Exercise Through the S2H REPLAY, an Activity Reward Band that Quantifies Physical Activity
NEW YORK, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Switch2Health Corp. (S2H), an organization leading the charge to improve the health and wellness of people through motivation and rewards, today announced that Boston Celtics Captain Paul Pierce has joined the company in a strategic partnership. Pierce will take an equity stake in the venture, serve on the board, and actively promote the S2H brand through his Truth on Health Initiative and FitClub34 from Harvard Pilgrim and advise the company on healthy lifestyle programs for children.
Switch2Health's signature product is the S2H REPLAY, a fun and innovative wrist-worn device that allows users to quantify their level of physical activity. Upon completion of 60 minutes of physical activity, the device generates a reward code which can be entered at S2H.COM. This patent pending technology is directly integrated into S2H.COM, a destination for users to be rewarded for physical activity; to send & receive physical activity challenges; and, through more physical activity, continuously build up their S2H Points.
As part of the partnership, S2H REPLAY will be incorporated into Pierce's FitClub34 from Harvard Pilgrim, the main component of the NBA All-Star's Truth on Health Initiative, which empowers young people to lead healthier lives. FitClub34, a fan club turned fit club, will use the device to track participants' exercise progress and provide incentives and prizes through S2H's rewards program.
"I didn't always have the access, information or guidance to make the correct decisions about eating well and exercising," said Pierce. "I realize now how important staying active and eating healthy has been to my success. What I love about Switch2Health is that it offers the tools, resources and information necessary to make healthy choices while also making it fun by providing great rewards to kids who are truly committed to their own health and fitness."
"We are excited to have an athlete of Paul Pierce's caliber join our team in one of our generation's most significant challenges: the effort to curb sedentary lifestyles among our youth in the prevention of childhood obesity," said Switch2Health President and CEO Seth Tropper. "Switch2Health is one of the few companies that incentivizes young people with actual rewards for choosing a healthy lifestyle. Paul's broad appeal will be a huge asset as we carry our message to our nation's youth and their families."
S2H is actively working with a growing number of high schools, secondary schools and educational institutions for youth throughout the Northeast. Other S2H programs have included the NFL Play60, Harlem Globetrotters, and State Farm Insurance.
