The Ladies of Polo Take the Sport of Kings to the Sands of South Beach
The First Ever South Beach Women's Polo Cup
"The idea of playing polo on the beach is an exciting concept," said Sunny Hale, President of the Women's Championship Tournament and the highest rated female polo player in the world. Rated at an impressive 5-goals in the arena and on the sand, Hale is expected to set the bar for the field of 18-24 players who will be participating in this inaugural event. Joining Sunny Hale on the beach is model Paula Chermont who will be leading a Brazilian team into play. This year the South Beach Women's Polo Cup will precede the 2009 Miami Beach Polo World Cup and will do it in South Beach style.
The 2009 Miami Beach Polo World Cup, the world's largest and most prestigious Polo Tournament on the beach will take place for the fifth consecutive year. The excitement filled weekend will wrap up on Sunday, May 3rd with the trophy ceremony, immediately followed by the "Polo Rocks" beach bash at the VIP tent on the sand.
General admission to the tournaments is free and a limited number of VIP tickets are available for purchase, prices ranging from $100-$150. Three and four day packages are also available from $350, which include attendance to the First Annual South Beach Women's Polo Cup and the V Miami Beach Polo World Cup.
